SARGA.CO – The cheers of 8,500 spectators at Sultan Agung Stadium (SSA), Bantul, Yogyakarta, roared last Sunday as two new stars were born on Indonesia’s horse racing stage.
The 2025 Indonesia’s Horse Racing Cup (IHR Cup), featuring 131 horses from across the archipelago, delivered thrilling drama, surprises, and unforgettable stories, especially through two rising names who stole the spotlight: P. Hajar and Kasmaran.
Few had their hopes pinned on P. Hajar at the start of the race. But the three-year-old colt from BHM Stable (South Kalimantan) silenced the doubters with a commanding performance in Race XIV: 3-Year-Old Juvenile Class (1,400 meters).
Standing tall at 155 cm and boasting a championship pedigree—Mahameru BHM x Bintuang Putri—P. Hajar showed fierce determination. From the moment the bell rang, he surged ahead, overtaking favored contenders with a blistering pace.
The final straight became his domain. With powerful strides and prime stamina, P. Hajar left his rivals in the dust, crossing the finish line first and shocking many who had underestimated him.
An equally gripping scene unfolded in Race IV: 2-Year-Old Novice Class C/D Div. I (1,000 meters). Kasmaran, a two-year-old filly from Aceh owned by Adam Ayem Stable, was barely on anyone’s radar. At just 139 cm, many doubted her chances against larger, more physically dominant horses.
But Kasmaran defied expectations. Ridden by jockey Agung Saidil, she locked into a neck-and-neck battle with Lang Lang Jagat. The two traded leads in a nail-biting dash, igniting wild cheers from the crowd.
In the final seconds, Kasmaran unleashed her top speed. Her agile frame darted ahead by a mere hair’s breadth at the finish line, sealing a dramatic victory to thunderous applause from the stands.
The victories of P. Hajar and Kasmaran were far from lucky flukes. They proved that with dedicated trainers, skillful jockeys, and a relentless spirit, even underdogs can rise to glory and reshape the landscape of competitive racing in Indonesia.
