SARGA.CO – A new story is about to be written on Indonesia’s horse racing tracks. After the passing of the young legend Milord, his younger brother Sunset Nagari is now preparing for his long-awaited debut. All eyes are on him—not only because of the champion’s blood running through his veins, but also because of the great expectations that come with it.
Previously, Milord was one of North Sulawesi’s most celebrated racehorses. Standing only 153 cm tall, he never backed down from taller, stronger rivals. His courage and determination carried him to multiple victories, often crossing the finish line ahead of his competitors.
Sunday, November 9, 2025, will mark a historic day for Sunset Nagari. The three-year-old colt will compete in the Three-Year-Old Division II – 1,200 meters at the prestigious Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) King Hamengku Buwono X Cup, held at Sultan Agung Racecourse, Yogyakarta.
Sunset will face five challengers: Inna Fatahna T.A, Royal Blaze, Luna Nova, Mandoge, and Valeria AJ. This race is more than a competition—it’s a stage for a young horse to prove his worth while carrying a legendary name.
“Sunset is Milord’s younger brother, but from a different sire,” explained Mario Bahar, owner of Bendang Stable, in an interview with SARGA News.
“Milord was the offspring of Davinci x Fitri Nagari, while Sunset is by Damsyik x Fitri Nagari,” he continued.
Originally, Sunset was scheduled to debut at a Derby event some time ago, but due to certain circumstances, his first appearance was postponed. He is now undergoing intensive preparation at Djon’s Stable, where he’s being trained to deliver his best performance for the King’s Cup.
Milord’s name still echoes in the hearts of Indonesia’s horse racing enthusiasts. The stallion from Bendang Stable, North Sulawesi, was known for his strength, fierce spirit, and fearless heart—traits that made him one of the most promising young racehorses of his time.
But tragedy struck during the Central Java Derby in February 2025. Milord suffered a fatal accident that claimed his life and injured his trusted jockey, Jones Paendong. The racing world mourned deeply.
Now, many hope that Sunset Nagari will carry forward his brother’s fighting spirit. Though they have different sires, both share the same dam, Fitri Nagari—a mare renowned for producing offspring with the heart and mindset of champions.
