The race, which began at 2:00 p.m. WIB, featured a fierce battle among five of the best horses—four from West Sumatra and one from West Java. Big names such as Historia Guti, Volcanic, and Saga Serumpun lined up for the 1,200-meter sprint.
From the moment the gates opened, Historia Guti asserted dominance, taking an early lead closely shadowed by Saga Serumpun, while Volcanic and Freya Queen pushed from behind. The duel quickly intensified between Historia and Saga, as both fought neck and neck, leaving the rest of the pack trailing.
Entering the final 200 meters, Historia Guti looked poised to secure first place. But then came a dramatic twist from the outside lane—Saga Serumpun unleashed a burst of power that stunned the crowd.
Under the reins of jockey Hermansyah and the tactical guidance of trainer Riki Ade Saputra, the three-year-old chestnut colt surged with unexpected speed. Representing Serumpun Group Stable of Payakumbuh, Saga Serumpun overtook Historia right at the finish line, sending the Kubu Gadang arena into a thunderous roar of cheers.
