SARGA.CO – One of the most entertaining moments from Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) PORDASI National Championship Series II 2025, held at Sultan Agung Racecourse, Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Sunday, October 19, 2025, came courtesy of the mischievous stallion Prince Loupan from King Halim Stable, who went a little “off-script” at the start.
The 3-year-old chestnut stallion, standing only 131 cm tall, competed in Race II (Class G – 1,000 meters), contending for the MyRepublic Cup with a total prize of Rp10 million.
The non-championship morning race featured seven horses: Arbay Star, Evelynt Salt, Dicaprio, Bless Virginia, Nagoya MD, Berkah Sari, and, of course, the unpredictable Prince Loupan.
Everything seemed normal during pre-race preparations. Prince Loupan, son of King Loupan and Sandel, was calm as ever in the mounting yard as jockey Genta T. Dinata smoothly took the saddle. Trainer Karlan even had the groom cool him down with a splash of water on his neck before the race began.
After three warm-up laps, all seven horses were guided toward the starting gates. Prince Loupan, assigned to Gate 1 (the far-left slot), entered third, followed by Dicaprio. Everything appeared routine — until the gates opened.
As the starting bell rang and six other horses leaped forward cleanly, Prince Loupan suddenly reared up on his hind legs for a few seconds — the kind of move that can ruin a race before it even begins.
Fortunately, jockey Genta’s quick instincts brought the stallion back under control. Though left far behind, Prince Loupan wasted no time — bolting forward with fierce determination, as if possessed.
From a wide gap at the back, he caught up to the trailing horses, moving into fifth place in no time. Taking the inner rail, Genta pressed on. Prince Loupan advanced again, seizing fourth place, while Arbay Star and Bless Virginia held the front.
With 200 meters to go, the whips came down across the field. Sticking to the inside lane, Genta and Prince Loupan surged past a fading Arbay Star. Ahead, Bless Virginia had already secured the lead, but a tight duel unfolded between Nagoya MD and Prince Loupan for second.
Though the finish line came too soon for him to claim runner-up, Prince Loupan still finished third, proving his resilience after that chaotic start.
It’s the second race in a row where Prince Loupan has pulled an unpredictable stunt at the gate — yet still made it to the podium. Will the fiery stallion finally take first place in the next championship once he learns to start clean?
