SARGA.CO – Cheers erupted across the Sultan Agung Horse Racing Track in Bantul on Sunday, 27 July 2025, as King Argentin rocketed down the home stretch in the 3-Year-Old Indonesia Derby – 2,000 Meters. The 3-year-old stallion from King Halim Stable sealed a dramatic victory. He carved his name into history as the latest winner of the elusive Triple Crown—an achievement untouched for the past 11 years.
At first, victory seemed out of reach for King Argentin. Starting from gate number 9 under jockey Jemmy Runtu, the colt settled into fifth place early on. The front was dominated by the speedy trio of Sidney All Star, Wonderland, and Princess Gavi, followed closely by Romeo Berjaya a.k.a. Vaghar Nagari.
But everything changed in the final two turns. Jemmy Runtu—nicknamed "The Lightning"—displayed his tactical brilliance. Holding King Argentin back early on, he unleashed the horse’s full power at just the right moment.
In the second half of the track, Sidney All Star began to fade. King Argentin seized the moment, overtaking his rivals one by one. Romeo Berjaya and Wonderland fell behind, while Princess Gavi—also from King Halim Stable—tried to resist the charge.
But in the final 200 meters, there was no stopping him. The colt, a product of Agrippa and Princess Missoni, surged down the track, leaving the field behind and crossing the finish line first.
First Triple Crown in 11 Years
This victory marks the crowning moment in King Argentin’s stellar run, having already won the previous two Triple Crown series races. With this triumph in Bantul, King Argentin officially becomes the first horse in 11 years to clinch the Indonesia Triple Crown—the highest honor in the realm of horse racing.
“This is a historic moment—we’ve waited so long for this,” said Kusnadi Halim, owner of King Halim Stable, proudly.
