SARGA.CO – Failure in the qualifying round is not the end of everything. Fiona of Khalim, a young filly owned by King Halim Stable (West Java), proved that a champion’s mentality is not measured by a single result. In the Class 2-Year-Old Novice C/D Non-Finalist 1,200 Meter event at the IHR–Indonesia Derby 2025, Fiona performed exceptionally and captured public attention with her dramatic victory.
Although she only competed in the non-finalist category, Fiona showed qualities worthy of a future champion. The offspring of War Senator x Conrad, she put on a convincing performance at the Sultan Agung Racecourse, Bantul, proving that non-finalist status does not reflect her true potential.
Starting from gate 3, Fiona immediately took the lead. But pressure came quickly from P. Putri Barbara (BHM Stable, South Kalimantan), who started from gate 8 and stuck close throughout the early stretch. At the 800-meter mark, Fiona briefly lost the lead after Putri Barbara overtook with high speed. But instead of giving up, Fiona saved her energy for the crucial moment.
Entering the final 400 meters, the two were locked in a fierce duel that made spectators tense. Fiona, ridden by young jockey Genta T Dinata, exploded in the final sprint and managed to overtake just a few meters before the finish line.
This victory felt sweet as Fiona of Khalim claimed first place on the podium, followed by P. Putri Barbara in second and Royal Blaze (Amigo Stable, East Java) in third.
Fiona’s victory was not only about speed, but also reflected strong character, endurance, and racing instincts that were mature for a two-year-old horse. Her impressive performance in the non-finalist class made her a star shining from behind the shadows of big names.
With a performance like this, Fiona of Khalim deserves to be considered as one of the future favorites for the 2026 Indonesia Derby, or even a contender in prestigious events such as the Indonesia Triple Crown in the future.
Marking the national energy company’s commitment to supporting the growth of equestrian sports in the country.
