SARGA.CO – England is the birthplace of modern horse racing. It is here, on its iconic green turf, that tradition, glory, and the drama of the sport converge with every thunderous stride. Yet, in the very land that loves horse racing the most, the Triple Crown, the sport’s most prestigious title, has become something of a myth.
To claim the English Triple Crown, a horse must win all three classic races:
2000 Guineas Stakes (1,600 meters) – a test of speed,
The Derby (2,400 meters) – a battle of endurance and strategy,
St. Leger Stakes (2,900 meters) – the longest and most punishing of them all.
The combination of these races creates a near-impossible challenge: a horse must be fast, strong, and durable, and remain in peak condition within a short timeframe. That is why only 15 horses in history have ever managed to seize this legendary crown.
The most iconic among them is Nijinsky, the phenomenal colt who swept all three races in 1970. Since then, no one has matched the feat. Many have tried. Several came close. But none have completed the sacred mission.
One of the most dramatic stories belongs to Camelot, which in 2012 captured both the 2000 Guineas and the Derby. The British public dared to hope again. But it all fell apart at the St. Leger, where Camelot finished second. The dream of the Triple Crown slipped away once more, and Britain tasted the familiar sting of heartbreak.
Today, the Triple Crown in England is more than a racing series. It’s a living legend, a crown claimed by the few, and chased by the many. Amid cheers from the stands and the rumble of hooves, the Triple Crown remains a symbol of greatness, just out of reach.
Who will be Nijinsky’s heir? No one knows. But that is the true allure of a dream: it is hard to attain, but never stops being pursued.
This championship also became the first in Indonesia to host equestrian events at night.
