SARGA.CO – Amid the roar and intensity of the IHR–Indonesia Derby 2025, one name emerged from the pack and stole the spotlight: Maxi of Khalim. The colt from King Halim Stable, West Java, not only secured a brilliant win in the 2-Year-Old Novice A/B Class – 1,400 meters, but also introduced himself as a rising force on the national racing stage.
Sired by Maksimilian and out of Rose Black, Maxi of Khalim carries a powerful genetic legacy that was immediately evident in his debut performance. In this prestigious first outing at the Indonesia Derby, he proved that potential is not just a promise—but a real and present threat to future Derby and Triple Crown contenders.
The race experienced a brief delay due to a technical issue with one of the horses at gate 9. However, the professionalism of the stewards and officials ensured that order was quickly restored, and the race resumed under high tension.
From the start, the race was led by familiar names like Nara Eclipse, Suntora Nagari, and Monochrome. From the outside, Sir Orbit of West Sumatra surged forward with impressive speed. Monochrome, a filly from North Sulawesi (Miranda Stable), even took a commanding lead with an aggressive inside-track strategy. But everything changed at the final turn.
The Surprise Move: Butterfly Style
As the race entered its final 300 meters, jockey Jemmy Runtu unleashed his masterstroke. Coming from the back, Maxi of Khalim surged through the middle-outside of the track—like a red bullet from an unexpected lane.
With a signature butterfly style, he overtook the frontrunners one by one, eventually seizing the lead with a full-length advantage over Sir Orbit, who had to settle for second, followed by Monochrome in third.
The First Step Toward Legend Status
This victory is more than just crossing the finish line—it's a statement: Maxi of Khalim is here to stay. Though still in the novice class, all eyes are now on him as a strong contender for next year's Derby.
If his performance continues to improve and stay consistent, Maxi could very well follow in the footsteps of legendary names like King Argentin or Djohar Manik in the years to come.
Marking the national energy company’s commitment to supporting the growth of equestrian sports in the country.
