SARGA.CO – Cheers erupted along the Sentul track as Naga Sembilan, the prized racehorse of Red Stone Stable (Jakarta), showed its fangs in Race 18: Pertamina Cup, 4-Year-Old Class A/B – 2,000 meters, at the IHR-Indonesia Derby 2025 held in Bantul, Yogyakarta, on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Formerly known as Leonidas, this stallion from the capital city secured the leading position with a sharp sprint in the final 300 meters. In this highly prestigious race, Naga Sembilan didn’t just win—he established himself as a formidable 4-year-old horse on the national level.
Despite his dominant performance, Naga Sembilan’s victory didn’t come without a fight. Trailing close behind was King of Istana from Istana Stable (East Java), who kept the pressure on from the start. Known for his endurance, King of Istana pushed hard until the finish line and settled for second place by a narrow margin.
Meanwhile, War Kudeta of King Halim Stable (West Java) rounded out the podium in third place. This horse has been consistent since the start of the season and once again proved himself a strong contender, though this time he had to concede to the two rivals ahead.
Race 18 was one of the most anticipated events in the Indonesia Derby series, bringing together mature horses at the peak of their performance. The Pertamina Cup was not just about speed—it was a test of jockey strategy and the synergy between trainer and horse over the challenging 2,000-meter distance.
Naga Sembilan's journey is quite remarkable. Once a promising young horse known as Leonidas, he had faded from the spotlight. But after joining Red Stone Stable and undergoing a training overhaul, he returned stronger—more aggressive and mature on the track.
The victory in the Pertamina Cup may mark the beginning of a new era of dominance for Naga Sembilan in the senior class. If he maintains this momentum, he could very well become the next icon of Jakarta's racing scene and a real threat in future major championships.
Race 18 – Pertamina Cup Results (2,000 m, 4-Year-Old Class A/B):
