Payakumbuh Horses Claim the Most Podiums at the 2025 IHR Cup II

SARGA.CO – The Kubu Gadang Racecourse in Payakumbuh, West Sumatra (Sumbar), not only left a sweet impression on SARGA.CO with a record-breaking number of spectators, but also brought glory to local horses from Payakumbuh.

The 2025 IHR Cup II—part of the 7th series on the Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) 2025 “The Race of Rising Stars” calendar, organized by SARGA.CO, in collaboration with PP PORDASI, saw Payakumbuh horses claim the most podium finishes during the races held on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Out of 67 competing horses, 39 reached the podium at the IHR Cup II 2025. Among them, Payakumbuh led with 15 horses securing podium finishes.

Also from West Sumatra, Bukittinggi horses came in second with 10 podium spots, followed by Padang Panjang with 4 horses.

This IHR series event—the first ever held in Sumatra—featured horses from various regions in West Sumatra, such as Batu Sangkar, Bukittinggi, Dharmasraya, Muaro Balo, Padang, Padang Panjang, Pariaman, Payakumbuh, and Solok, as well as from other provinces, including Riau, West Java, Central Java, and Yogyakarta.

Horses from outside West Sumatra, such as Riau, Yogyakarta, and Central Java, also emerged as winners in their respective classes.

Romantic Spartan horse emerged as champion in one of the classes of the 2025 IHR Cup II

Topping the podium in the 600m Class E First Race, 1,200m Class E Open, and the 1,400m 3-Year-Old Derby Prospect.

Meanwhile, Romantic Spartan from Padang Panjang—who previously placed third in the 2025 Indonesia Derby—took first place in the 1,600m 4-Year-Old A/B Class.

According to SARGA.CO Co-Founder & CEO Aseanto Oudang, the 2025 IHR Cup II marked the first IHR event held outside Java, and it received an overwhelmingly positive response from the public.

“We extend our gratitude to all parties who have supported this event, bringing horse racing here to a more professional level,” said Aseanto Oudang.

Chairman of the Indonesian Equestrian Sports Association (PP PORDASI), Aryo P.S. Djojohadikusumo, also praised the successful organization of the IHR Cup II 2025 in West Sumatra and expressed his appreciation to the Payakumbuh City Government for their strong support.

From the experience of hosting the IHR Cup II 2025, Aryo emphasized that with commercial partners like SARGA.CO, PP PORDASI hopes to expand national-scale horse racing events across more regions in Indonesia.
