SARGA.CO – Two thrilling races at Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR) Piala Raja Hamengku Buwono X 2025, held at Bantul Racecourse, Yogyakarta, on Sunday, November 9, 2025, delivered breathtaking overtakes on the final turns before the finish line.
These dramatic moments occurred in Race XII: 3-Year-Old Derby Division II – 1,400 meters (Garuda Indonesia Cup, Rp60 million prize) and Race XIII: Class D – 1,400 meters (SARGA Cup, Rp50 million prize).
The first surprise came in Race XII, featuring seven horses from four provinces: Burrito Libre and De Boss Istana dh. Kingsaw (East Java), Fox Ranger (West Java), P. Jack Jhon and P. Super Tembaga (South Kalimantan), and Tabassam T.A and Oshin Eclipse (Central Java).
Under the afternoon sun, the race began with De Boss Istana leading side by side with P. Super Tembaga, followed by Burrito Libre and Jack Jhon.
At the 600-meter mark, P. Super Tembaga from BHM Stable maintained the lead, closely shadowed by De Boss Istana and Oshin Eclipse.
Meanwhile, Burrito Libre—formerly known as Cempaka Jatim—quietly observed from behind. The 3-year-old filly, calm and calculated, suddenly unleashed her power from the outer lane, overtaking the frontrunners in a spectacular move.
The filly, sired by My Name is Salman and out of Cempaka Putih, successfully seized the lead from P. Super Tembaga.
A fierce duel ensued down the stretch, but Burrito Libre proved too fast to catch, leaving P. Super Tembaga to settle for second. Meanwhile, Oshin Eclipse narrowly secured third place over De Boss Istana.
1st Place: Burrito Libre – East Java (Bintang Madura Stable)
2nd Place: P. Super Tembaga – South Kalimantan (BHM Stable)
3rd Place: Oshin Eclipse – Central Java (Eclipse Stable)
The drama continued in Race XIII: Class D – 1,400 meters, which featured only four contenders but delivered one of the most intense finishes of the day. Competing for the Japfa Cup with a Rp50 million prize, all participating horses had previously reached the podium in their last three outings.
The lineup included Santana Rembulan (Central Java), Arceus Nagari (Jakarta), Merkava (Jakarta), and Putra Kenangan Sari (South Sulawesi). Notably, Santana Rembulan and Arceus Nagari had recently finished first and second in their previous race.
Despite their strong reputations, Merkava surprisingly took the early lead, followed by Arceus Nagari and Putra Kenangan Sari, while Santana Rembulan stumbled at the start and began from the rear.
The early laps saw both Jakarta horses—Merkava and Arceus Nagari—pulling ahead by two horse lengths. But in the middle stretch, Santana Rembulan, the 5-year-old red mare standing 150.8 cm tall, suddenly made her move from the outside, overtaking Putra Kenangan Sari and climbing into contention.
Now it was down to a tight duel: Arceus Nagari, owned by Aryo P.S. Djojohadikusumo, versus Santana Rembulan.
In the final turn, Arceus Nagari maintained his lead along the inside, while Santana Rembulan surged side by side, moving to the middle track to push harder.
The tension peaked in the final 100 meters, as the two battled stride for stride down the outer lane — but Arceus Nagari held on, winning by the slimmest of margins.
1st Place: Arceus Nagari – Jakarta (Sarga Stable)
2nd Place: Santana Rembulan – Central Java (Santana Stable)
3rd Place: Merkava – Jakarta (Djangkar Bumi Stable)
