SARGA.CO – The Lightning Jockey, Jemmy Runtu, once again displayed his thunderous power at the Indonesia Horse Racing (IHR) – Indonesia Derby 2025, held at Sultan Agung Horse Racing Track, Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region, on Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Competing in the 2-Year-Old Beginner A/B Class, with a track length of 1,400 meters, Jemmy Runtu earned the champion trophy of the Arsari Tambang Cup, with a total prize pool reaching Rp150 million.
Riding Maxi of Khalim from King Halim Stable, West Java, Jemmy managed to defeat 10 other contenders who put up fierce resistance.
The race already felt tense as the horses were being prepared at the starting grid. The tension grew when the race was momentarily delayed due to a problem with the horse in gate number 9.
However, thanks to the professionalism of the stewards, the situation was controlled, and officials declared the race ready to proceed.
Once the starting gate opened, all horses started flawlessly, making it difficult to determine the early front-runners. After several hundred meters, horses like Nara Eclipse, Suntora Nagari, Virtusso All Star, and Monochrome began taking positions ahead of the pack.
The competition became more focused as Monochrome and Nara Eclipse attempted to lead the race by charging through the inner track.
Meanwhile, from the outer side, Sir Orbit tried to seize the lead with remarkable speed.
But the real surprise came at the final turn, heading into the home stretch. Maxi of Khalim, with jockey Jemmy Runtu, suddenly surged forward like lightning. Coming from the outer middle track, Maxi of Khalim managed to overtake the horses that had been leading the race.
With a one-length lead, Maxi of Khalim, using a "butterfly style" strategy from behind, emerged as the champion in this prestigious class.
