SARGA.CO – Competition in the 3-Year-Old Juvenile 1,600-meter class at the IHR-Indonesia Derby 2025 is heating up after the official gate draw. With a total prize of Rp150 million, the race features 12 of the best young horses from various regions, with strong representation from North Sulawesi and Central Java.
Wulan Nuangan Starting from Gate 11
North Sulawesi’s top contender, Wulan Nuangan, touted as one of the favorites, will begin the race from gate 11. This outer track position is considered quite challenging, but Wulan Nuangan is known for her lethal acceleration on the straightaway.
In addition to Wulan Nuangan, North Sulawesi is also fielding Ms Queen in gate 1, Esperance Tonsea in gate 4, and Caraxes Nagari in gate 5—a formation that highlights Sulut’s strength in contending for the top podium.
From the Central Java camp, four strong horses are ready to challenge: Kamaka Eclipse (gate 9), Lucynero (gate 7), Ya Tarim T.A (gate 12), and Dobhan Prasasti (gate 2). With Ya Tarim T.A drawn on the far outside in gate 12, the jockey’s strategy will be tested in the long 1,600-meter stretch.
Beyond those two regions, other standout horses are also ready to shine. Unexpected Boy (West Java, gate 3) and Maesa Dewi (West Java, gate 8) are determined to push West Java into top contention. Meanwhile, P. Putra Barbara (South Kalimantan, gate 6) and Samurai (East Java, gate 10) could be the surprise packages.
