SARGA.CO – West Sumatra’s most anticipated horse-racing event is almost here! The Indonesia Horse Racing (IHR) Cup 2025 will ignite the track at Gelanggang Pacuan Kuda Kubu Gadang, Payakumbuh, on Sunday, 28 September 2025.
Among the 13 race classes, the spotlight will fall on the prestigious Three-Year-Old Derby Divisions I & II, where the region’s finest thoroughbreds will battle for glory.
This is the headline race of the IHR Cup 2025. Three-year-old horses from across West Sumatra—and beyond—will test their speed, stamina, and strategy over 1,400 meters.
Only those with the perfect rhythm and endurance can claim the crown, making this event the launchpad for Indonesia’s next racing stars.
Although ranked below Division I, the Derby Division II class is no less intense. Many young, rising horses have exploded in this class. The same distance and format keep the race competitive, and with a total prize pool of Rp 60 million, owners and jockeys are sure to bet big to prove their quality.
For West Sumatran horses, these two classes are not just competitions, but a testament to local supremacy: who is the best horse, who is the most skilled jockey, and who is the trainer capable of maximizing their potential.
13 Classes, Total Prizes Over IDR 425 Million
Beyond the two Derby divisions, the Cup features a full card of action, including:
Age Groups: Races for 2- to 4-year-old horses
Height Divisions: Unique local tradition of racing by horse height
Traditional “Draf Bogie” Races: Classic long-distance runs of 2,400–3,200 meters
With a total prize pool of Rp425 million, the 2025 IHR Cup is one of the biggest horse racing events in Indonesia this year.
