SARGA.CO – The Indonesia Horse Racing (IHR) Merdeka Cup has officially wrapped up all its classes at the championship held at Legok Jawa Racecourse, Pangandaran, West Java (Jabar) on Sunday, 24 August 2025.
A total of 16 classes were contested, featuring 86 horses from various provinces across Indonesia.
As the afternoon approached, three races over a distance of 1,000 meters were held for Indonesian local horses. These classes were presented as a commitment by PP PORDASI and SARGA.CO to promote the development of horse racing in Indonesia.
The three classes that competed were Class I, H, and G, each offering a total prize pool of IDR 20 million.
Class I – 1000 meters featured five horses: four from West Java and one from Central Java (Jateng).
The lineup included Putra DNA, Alhambra, Black Marmer, and Aura Ajhar from Jabar, while the only outsider was Putra Jayanti from Jateng.
The race was intense, though the dominance of Putra DNA was evident. As the gates opened, Alhambra, Black Marmer, and Aura Ajhar quickly surged to the front.
Putra DNA, however, chose not to join the first pack, instead making a move from the outer track.
This strategy proved highly effective. The red stallion, standing 128 cm tall, gradually pulled away from his four rivals. By the time he reached the finish line, Putra DNA’s power and speed were simply unstoppable, securing the Arsari Tambang Cup.
Winners of Class I – 1000 M (Prize IDR 10 million):
The IHR Merdeka Cup 2025 also brought a sweet moment for jockey Agus Soetino with his horse Arbay Star, who competed in Race XV, Class H – 1000 meters, battling for the SARGA.CO Cup with a total prize of IDR 10 million.
Making his debut in the IHR championship, the 2-year-old red stallion, standing 134 cm and sired by Wisnu Aji and Never Say, claimed the top spot on the podium.
Arbay Star showed his dominance right from the start. Breaking from Gate 1, Agus Setiono used the inside track to push forward throughout the 1,000-meter course.
His lead was never threatened, finishing two lengths ahead of Desmosedici GP, who trailed closely behind.
Winners of Race XV, Class H – 1000 M:
The biggest upset came in Race XVI, Class G – 1000 meters, the final race of the IHR Merdeka Cup 2025, contested by seven horses, most from West Java.
It turned into a tough lesson for Prince Loupan of King Halim Stable.
The 2-year-old bay stallion seemed destined for victory after dominating from the start. Breaking from Gate 2,
Prince Loupan held a strong lead and appeared untouchable as the finish line neared.
But in a shocking twist, just meters before the end, Prince Loupan suddenly veered inward, drifting toward the middle of the track and nearly back to the outside.
This opened the door for Naga Maja, who had been trailing closely behind. Jockey Erza Rustandi of Jalu Stable seized the moment, securing the SARGA.CO Cup and the IDR 10 million prize.
Winners of Class G – 1000 M, IHR Merdeka Cup 2025:
