This tradition later spread across Europe and flourished during the Middle Ages.
By the 19th century, equestrian became more structured. Formal competitions were introduced, including jumping, polo, and the three-day event.
A pivotal moment came in 1912, when equestrian officially debuted in the Stockholm Olympics with two events: dressage and eventing.
Its popularity soared, and by the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, show jumping was officially added to the roster.
As time progressed, equestrian sports also evolved. By the 1990s, the focus expanded beyond competition to include horse welfare and athlete safety.
Organizations like the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) emerged, working with governments and nonprofits to raise the standards of care and regulation in the sport.
Equestrian isn’t just about riding—it’s an art, a strategy, and a synchronized partnership. There are three main disciplines in this sport:

A thrilling combination of dressage, show jumping, and cross-country, eventing pushes both horse and rider to their limits across open and closed terrain. Strength, endurance, and seamless teamwork are tested in what many consider the most challenging discipline.
In show jumping, athletes must guide their horses over a series of obstacles as quickly and cleanly as possible. Every knockdown or time penalty costs points—making courage and reflexes critical to victory.
In Indonesia, equestrian has grown beyond its elite image. It has become a national mainstay in international competitions.
Indonesian riders regularly participate in major events and have proudly brought home medals from prestigious arenas like the SEA Games.
With its blend of artistry, strategy, and physical power, equestrian is more than a sport—it's a harmonious collaboration between human and horse.
